Forest Finland - participating in combating climate change

Forest Finland is the joint communication project of the Finnish forest sector, launched in May 2020. The campaign will awaken and raise peoples’ interest and encourage discussion about the forests’ role in everything in Finland. Forest Finland talks about the sustainability of the use of the northern forests and about the solutions the sustainable use of them offers. The forest will be seen on TV and heard on the radio, in outdoor advertising and in social media. Forest Finland aims to surprise, awaken interest in the forest and encourage us to discuss sustainable use of the forest. Forest Finland updates our perception of modern forestry. It presents products one could not imagine being made using wood.

The concept is based on the observation that almost everything Finns do is always accompanied by a forest. At christenings, student parties, graduations, weddings and funerals; or on holidays, events and on spare time, forest is always there - at least in the pictures. In fact, we don’t even realize that almost all of our photographs, and with it our memories, always have - at least in the background - a forest. Finns have a special relationship with the forest because it is involved in everything.Everyone can participate. One can share the information in your own organization or on social media, e.g. by sharing pictures you have taken of the forest or by highlighting solutions that the forest produces for all of us.

Choose Forest is a member organization which main purpose is to ensure that forest-based industry and society has sufficient, correct, and high-quality competence, for value creation and sustainable resource management.

Choose Forest will achieve this by: Ensure forestry education in Norway at all levels that are important to the industry. Work actively with reputation building of forestry towards relevant recruitment arenas for forest education, and towards the advisory apparatus in the educational system. Be a liaison between the industry, institutions, administration, students and universities. A co-operation forum between the educational institutions and industry, industry and administration related to forests and outfields. Ensure the quality of studies / education at all relevant educational institutions, by providing input based on society and industry needs.

Choose Forest is financed by members of the industry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, Skogbrukets Landsforening and NHO Mat og Drikke, as well as funds from forestry's various project funds.

Never has the world had greater need for sustainable solutions. Think wood is an industry initiative from several companies and organizations within the Norwegian forest and wood industry. Together, we want to show how forests and trees can contribute in the fight against climate changes. Since its inception in 2019, the project has developed a number of articles and films, which easily and engagingly show what kind of products can be made of wood. Everything that is currently made of oil can in principle also be made of wood – and that with far lower emissions. The overall goal of the initiative is to show people why forests and wood are an important part of the climate solution. If we are going to achieve the UN’s sustainable climate goals, consumers, businesses, and politicians must actively choose renewable resources, such as wood, over non-renewable resources like petroleum and coal. Wood is the future. Not only as a resource, but as a green job creator all over Norway.

Prominifun tiene como objetivo desarrollar un proyecto para solucionar el problema de la valorización de parcelas forestales de pequeño tamaño, además del abandono del territorio en general y de sus consecuencias, como la reiteración de incendios forestales y la pérdida de biodiversidad. Las soluciones girarán en torno a 3 pilares: eficiencia, innovación e investigación, a través del análisis de la estrucura de la propiedad y de su potencialidad productiva, y la gestión de áreas abandonadas y propiedad desconocida.

Por lo tanto, los objetivos más específicos del Grupo Operativo son los siguientes:

• Promover un sector agrícola y forestal que utilice eficientemente los recursos, que sea económicamente viable, productivo y competitivo; que tenga un escaso nivel de emisiones; que sea respetuoso con el clima y resistente a los cambios climáticos; que trabaje hacia sistemas de producción ecológica y en armonía con los recursos naturales esenciales de los que dependen la agricultura y la silvicultura.

• Crear valor añadido a través de una relación más estrecha entre investigación y prácticas agrícolas y forestales,  fomentando un mayor uso del conocimiento disponible.

• Promover una aplicación práctica más rápida e implantada de soluciones innovadoras.

Організація «Жінки в лісовому господарстві» (KiS) була заснована в 1986 році жінками, які навчаються і працюють у сфері лісового господарства.

Мета полягала в тому, щоб підвищити обізнаність жінок про їхнє право на успадкування сімейного лісу, заохочувати жінок бути активними і кваліфікованими учасницями лісового господарства, а також створити міцну мережу підтримки серед жінок.

Сьогодні членами KiS є студентки, працівниці лісового господарства, лісовласниці (як колишні, так і майбутні), прихильниці і різні організації у сфері лісового господарства або прав жінок.

Організація працює над питаннями як лісового господарства, так і гендерної рівності. Її діяльність включає формування знань і зв'язків між членами й іншими жінками за допомогою таких заходів, як прискорені курси для жінок у лісовому господарстві, польові дні для жінок-іммігранток і щорічні лісові конференції на різні теми.

Діяльність організації також спрямована на поширення знань у суспільстві і лісовому господарстві шляхом, зокрема, участі в перегляді норвезького стандарту лісоуправління PEFC для забезпечення гендерної рівності як в робочій групі, так і в переглянутому стандарті, а також шляхом впровадження інших проєктів національного і міжнародного масштабу. KiS комунікує зі своїми членами й іншими аудиторіями через Facebook та Instagram, а також через власний подкаст «Звуки лісового господарства», де гостями є в основному жінки, які говорять «повсякденною мовою», зрозумілою навіть тим, хто не розуміється на лісовому господарстві.

Організація фінансується за рахунок членських внесків, проєктного фінансування, державних грантів, спонсорства та продажу консультаційних послуг. 

З моменту свого заснування 75 років тому Solør VGS Sønsterud є національним лідером у навчанні методам ведення лісового господарства. Кампус є частиною Solør VGS і налічує близько 500 учнів віком 16-18 років і 135 працівників. Навчання проходить як у приміщеннях, так і на відкритому повітрі, що дозволяє учням отримати практичний досвід у сфері лісового господарства. Теми навчальної програми відображають етапи річного сезону (планування, лісова культура, лісозаготівля).

Дрони використовуються як доповнення до інших методів навчання, зокрема для зйомки об’єктів і насаджень. Такі записи потрібні для того, щоб показати конкретні проблеми або стан до/ після того чи іншого лісогосподарського заходу. Під час навчання керуванню лісогосподарськими машинами, завдяки дронам учні і вчителі можуть побачити роботу під іншим кутом. За умови правильного застосування, такий підхід може забезпечити ефективніше навчання як для тих, хто спостерігає, так і для тих, за ким спостерігають, адже вони можуть побачити себе в роботі. Оскільки час, який учень проводить за кермом лісогосподарської машини, обмежений, важливо використати його якомога ефективніше. Через знімання кожного учня за кермом лісогосподарської машини можна покращити результати навчання, адже учні можуть побачити себе зі сторони й отримати позитивний і конструктивний зворотний зв'язок. Завдяки дронам, легше виставити пріоритети щодо сфер навчання, яким варто приділити більше уваги.

Skogkurs має стати спільним органом організацій лісового господарства для поширення досвіду і знань з розвитку бізнесу й управління лісами та іншими земельними ресурсами. Своєю діяльністю Skogkurs сприятиме підвищенню компетентності учасників лісового господарства та поширенню знань про ліси і природні ресурси в навчальних закладах і серед громадськості. До складу Skogkurs входять 36 організацій.

Активне лісове господарство – це загальнонаціональна серія курсів для лісовласників, працівників лісового господарства та лісових операторів. Курси також актуальні для інших цільових груп, які використовують лісогосподарські інструменти в своїй роботі або у вільний час. Курси надають практичні настанови, проводяться в невеликих групах і за участі кваліфікованих, сертифікованих інструкторів. Це короткі цільові курси, які враховують місцевий контекст і проводяться «біля дому» або на робочому місці.

Навчальна програма «Навчай  про ліси» пропонує заняття для різних навчальних закладів – від дитячих садків до спеціалізованих вишів.
Міністерство сільського господарства та продовольства надає значну фінансову підтримку такій діяльності. Близько половини проєктів, якими управляє Skogkurs, частково фінансуються за рахунок коштів одного або декількох фондів лісового господарства. Діяльність Skogkurs також фінансується з фондів підтримки освіти дорослих, Норвезького агентства з навколишнього середовища і проєктних коштів інших партнерів.

Die Online-Forstschule wurde in Zusammenarbeit zwischen den norwegischen Waldbesitzerverbänden, dem Staatsforst und dem Institut für forstliche Weiterbildung eingerichtet. Ziel ist es, die Kursinhalte gemeinsam zu entwickeln, um das Niveau der forstwirtschaftlichen Fachkenntnisse in allen Phasen der Forstwirtschaft zu erhöhen. Die Kurse sind für jedermann offen, obwohl die Zielgruppe die Mitarbeiter der Organisationen sind. Das System ermöglicht es jeder Organisation, die Kurse individuell zu ergänzen und anzupassen. Auf der Plattform werden mehrere Kurse angeboten, hauptsächlich zu den Themen Waldbau, Pflanzung und Bodenvorbereitung. Die Kursinhalte können von allen Organisationen mit ihren eigenen individuellen Ergänzungen und Anpassungen genutzt werden.

Em 2015, o eucalipto tornou-se a espécie florestal predominante em Portugal e embora localizado maioritariamente em áreas produtivas está frequentemente sob gestão insuficiente/deficiente. O projeto "Melhor Eucalipto", desenvolvido pela CELPA, visa promover boas práticas de gestão florestal através da organização de Sessões Informativas gratuitas e itinerantes direcionadas para proprietários privados não-industriais. No âmbito do projeto, têm-se produzido vídeos (~20, www.celpa.pt/melhoreucalipto/category/videos/) e folhetos (~10,  http://www.celpa.pt/melhoreucalipto/flyers/) para distribuir ou descarregar a partir do site. Para evidenciar o impacto da boa gestão, o projeto integra áreas de demonstração sob monitorização continua: uma em que se aplica a gestão praticada pelos proprietários florestais não-industriais e outra que segue as melhores práticas.  O projeto possui uma extensão operacional, o Programa Limpa e Aduba (PLA), oferecendo aos proprietários que se candidatam, apoio técnico e a adubação dos eucaliptais desde que estes estejam de acordo com os critérios de elegibilidade. Em contrapartida, os proprietários ficam obrigados a gerir os combustíveis e/ou a corrigir a densidade pretendendo-se assim reduzir o risco de incêndio, aumentar a produtividade e rendimento, promovendo a gestão e certificação florestal. No final da 3ª campanha do PLA já foram beneficiados cerca de 3 800 proprietários, correspondentes a uma área de 33 100 ha, maioritariamente em parcelas de minifúndio.
