Transfrontaliera / multilaterale

Cross-Forest développe une plateforme commune de données forestières ouvertes et un modèle de données transfrontalier (ontologie) partagé entre le Portugal et l'Espagne, pour la publication d'inventaires forestiers, de cartes et d'autres bases de données forestières au format Linked Open Data (LOD). Cross-Forest fournira un dépôt public (endpoint) pour la publication des données forestières selon le modèle produit. L'objectif principal est de maintenir les informations forestières toujours disponibles et mises à jour afin de faciliter leur exploitation par tous les agents impliqués dans la gestion et la recherche forestières.

Deux cas d'utilisation sont en cours d'élaboration :
CAMBRIC - orienté pour simuler l'évolution des peuplements forestiers et de la qualité du bois dans différents scénarios de gestion forestière.
FRAME - axé sur la prévision du comportement et de la propagation des feux de forêt grâce à des informations précises sur les matériaux combustibles, des cartes forestières et des modèles de propagation.

Des ressources de calcul haute performance (HPC) sont utilisées en raison de la quantité de données générées et gérées, et de la complexité des modèles.

Les résultats obtenus jusqu'à présent démontrent l'utilité et la polyvalence de la technologie LOD, car elle permet aux utilisateurs d'accéder librement à des données actualisées et de les gérer pour développer des outils adaptés à leurs besoins et à leurs objectifs. La publication des données sous forme de LOD permet aux administrations publiques de répondre facilement à leurs exigences en matière de transparence et de publicité, d'optimiser leurs ressources et de garder un contrôle statistique sur l'utilisation des données publiques.

A digital coaching, assistance and feedback system is designed to improve the productivity and job satisfaction of forest machine operators with reduced mental stress and to make the training of junior staff more attractive and efficient. The overall objective is to make recommendations for the future development and implementation of an operator interface with optimal timing of feedback interpretation for decision support. The prototype of the digital coach will be integrated in forestry machines in Germany and Scandinavia and will also be used as a test environment in the simulators at FBZ. In the evaluation of the use cases the improvement of the forest-wood logistics chain will be critically assessed. In addition, the evaluation will assess how well the project meets the market requirements. The project consortium's approach to training is to ensure that the knowledge acquired can be optimally applied by the users.

Τα γεωργικά υπολείμματα όπως το άχυρο, τα καλάμια και τα κλάδεμα δέντρων αποτελούν σημαντικό φορτίο πράσινων αποβλήτων σε αγροτικές περιοχές και από τις δύο πλευρές των συνόρων. Η διαχείριση των αποβλήτων αυτών είναι κακή και προκαλεί σοβαρές περιβαλλοντικές επιπτώσεις. Ταυτόχρονα, οι τοπικές αρχές χρησιμοποιούν ακριβά ορυκτά καύσιμα για θέρμανση χώρου δημόσιων κτιρίων, και λόγω της τρέχουσας οικονομικής ύφεσης, πολύ συχνά η ποσότητα θερμότητας που παράγεται δεν μπορεί να ικανοποιήσει τις πραγματικές ανάγκες των χρηστών του κτιρίου. Η βιώσιμη διαχείριση των πράσινων αποβλήτων μπορεί να προσφέρει μια πραγματική λύση και στα δύο παραπάνω προβλήματα. Υπάρχει διαθέσιμη τεχνολογία που μπορεί να χρησιμοποιήσει τα αγροκαλλιέργειες ως καύσιμο για θέρμανση χώρου υπό τη μόνη προϋπόθεση που έχει δημιουργηθεί μια αξιόπιστη αλυσίδα εφοδιασμού.

Αντικείμενο αυτού του έργου είναι η δημιουργία αλυσίδας εφοδιασμού για πράσινα απόβλητα, σε συνδυασμό με το σχετικό επιχειρηματικό μοντέλο, το οποίο θα διασφαλίσει τη βιωσιμότητά του. Η αλυσίδα εφοδιασμού θα προσαρμοστεί σύμφωνα με τα απόβλητα που είναι διαθέσιμα και από τις δύο πλευρές των συνόρων και το επιχειρηματικό μοντέλο θα προσαρμοστεί στις συγκεκριμένες τοπικές συνθήκες. Η αλυσίδα εφοδιασμού θα εξυπηρετήσει επιλεγμένους τελικούς χρήστες σε κάθε χώρα, επομένως θα δοκιμαστεί η λειτουργικότητά της και θα επιλυθούν πιθανά προβλήματα και εμπόδια.

Agricultural residues such as straw, bank canes and trees pruning constitute a significant load of green waste in rural areas from both sides of the borders. Those wastes are poorly managed causing severe environmental impacts. At the same time local authorities use expensive fossil fuel for space heating of public buildings, and due to the current economic recession, very often the amount of heat generated cannot satisfy the real needs of the building users. The sustainable management of the green waste can offer a real solution in both of the above problems. There is available technology that can utilize agrowastes as fuel for space heating under the only condition that a reliable supply chain is established.

Scope of this project is to establish a supply chain for green wastes, combined with the relevant business model, which will secure its sustainability. The supply chain will be customized according to the wastes that are available from both sides of the border and the business model will be adapted to the specific local conditions. The supply chain will serve selected end users in each country, therefore its operability will be tested and possible problems and barriers will be resolved.

Το έργο PROFORBIOMED (Προώθηση της υπολειμματικής δασικής βιομάζας στη λεκάνη της Μεσογείου) αποσκοπούσε στην προώθηση των ανανεώσιμων πηγών ενέργειας ως οικονομικής και κοινωνικής ευκαιρίας για αγροτικές περιοχές, μέσω της ενεργειακής χρήσης δασικών καταλοίπων και γεωργικής βιομάζας. Ταυτόχρονα προέβλεπε τη δημιουργία νέων ευκαιριών απασχόλησης και την ανάπτυξη σχετικών βιομηχανιών σε αυτόν τον τομέα.
Τα κύρια αποτελέσματα ήταν:
Αξιολόγηση της διαθέσιμης δασικής βιομάζας για παραγωγή ενέργειας.
Μεταφορά και υιοθέτηση τεχνογνωσίας για τη βιώσιμη διαχείριση των δασών, συμπεριλαμβανομένων των αλυσίδων παραγωγής δασικής βιομάζας και της χρήσης της ως πηγής ενέργειας.
Βελτίωση της διακυβέρνησης των αγροτικών περιοχών, ανάπτυξη συστάδων και συμφωνιών μεταξύ δημόσιων και ιδιωτικών φορέων.
Ανάπτυξη ενός μοντέλου δημόσιας στήριξης για τη βιώσιμη διαχείριση των δασών και την παραγωγή βιομάζας.
Προσδιορισμός χρηματοδοτικών μηχανισμών για δημόσιες και ιδιωτικές επενδύσεις.
Δημιουργία νέων οικονομικών ευκαιριών. 

PROFORBIOMED (Promotion of residual forestry biomass in the Mediterranean basin) aimed at the promotion of renewable energy as an economic and social opportunity for rural areas, through energy use of forest residues and agricultural biomass. At the same time it envisaged the creation of new employment opportunities and the development of related industries in this area.
The main outputs were:
Assessment of the forest biomass available for energy production.
Transfer and adoption of know-how on sustainable forest management including forest biomass production chains and its use as an energy source.
Improvement of the rural areas governance, development of clusters and agreements between public and private actors.
Development of a model of public support to sustainable forest management and biomass production.
Identification of financing mechanisms for public and private investments.
Creation of new economic opportunities.

Secure Chain's objective was to promote a Sustainable Supply Chain Management practice that meets high environmental, quality and financial viability standards, tailored for local biomass suppliers, energy producers and the financial sector. In the process, the entire bioenergy chain was considered, and sustainability and financing were an integral part of the set-up. The specific objectives comprised, a) integration and optimization of local supply chains, b) high efficiency and low impact gain, c) supply sustainability, d) leveraging investments in bioenergy, and, e) implementation of future-proof bioenergy chains. SecureChain relied heavily on tested digital practices deminstrating organisational setups for information flows, biomass mobilisation and logistics, especially for a) the optimization of collaborative networks and joint implementation plans of local supply chains, and b) the application of risk assessment tools for the analysis of supply chains’ market opportunities, financing schemes and investor requirements.

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 646457 for the period from 01.04.2015 to 31.07.2018.

Eine Installation aus vier Holztoren macht die Transformation vom Baum zum Haus sinnlich erlebbar. Sie erzählt dabei vom Beitrag des modernen Holzbaus zu klima- und ressourcenschonenden Städten der Zukunft.
Im Wald wächst der Baum – aus dem Baum wird Holz – aus dem Holz entsteht das Haus. Mit einfachen piktogrammatischen Zeichen in vierzig Stufen, Scheibe für Scheibe aus großen Holzblöcken herausgeschnitten, vermittelt die „woodpassage“ die Umformung vom Baum zum Haus. Beim Durchschreiten der Torbögen mit ihrer imposanten Größe von jeweils 4,3 mal 4,3 Metern wird die besondere Materialität von Holz erlebbar. Zugleich ist die begehbare Installation spielerisches Sprachrohr für die ökologischen Vorzüge von Bauen mit Holz.
13 Kubikmeter Holz sind in der Installation verbaut. Diese Menge wächst in Österreichs Wäldern in 13 Sekunden nach. 13 Tonnen CO2 sind im Holz der vier Tore auf Dauer gebunden. Das entspricht dem Schadstoffausstoß eines PKW in 8 Jahren. 
Holz wächst laufend im Wald nach und ist verfügbar. 30 Mio. Kubikmeter Holz entstehen pro Jahr in Österreichs Wäldern, davon werden nur rund 26 Mio. Kubikmeter geerntet. Der Rest verbleibt im Wald und vergrößert stetig den Holzvorrat.
40 Prozent aller verbrauchten Ressourcen fließen in den Bausektor, global gesehen ist dieser auch für 40 Prozent aller Treibhausgasemissionen verantwortlich. Holz ersetzt Baustoffe aus endlichen Ressourcen. Häuser aus Holz binden langfristig CO2 und entlasten so das Klima. Durch die verstärkte Verwendung von Holz im Bauwesen entsteht in unseren Städten ein zweiter Wald.
 

Український стартап RE-leaf PAPER створює еко-папір з переробленого опалого листя.
Закарпатський школяр Валентин Фречка придумав метод виготовлення паперу з сухого листя ще в 2017 році.
В процесі виробництва еко-паперу подрібнене і очищене листя варять в чанах при температурі не вище 40 градусів, що виключає виділення шкідливих речовин. Після первинної обробки сировину розбавляють в співвідношенні 50:50 з макулатурою і направляють на конвеєр, де вона поступово втрачає зайву вологу і розтягується до стану тонкого паперу. Для подібної переробки підходить практично будь-яке листя. Щоб отримати целюлозу, листя потрібно відварити в розчині натрію, а з їх відходів можна буде робити паливні брикети і добрива.
Перевага такого паперу полягає у тому, що використовується неконкурентна сировина, яка є щороку відновлюваною та географічно доступною на більшій частині планети, що дозволяє заміщати деревину. А це дає змогу зменшити викиди вуглекислого газу та заощаджувати зелений ресурс планети.
Такий папір не потребує використання складних хімічних реагентів для отримання волокна, щоб його виготовити. Адже  використовується у 15 разів менше води і можна забезпечити повністю замкнутий цикл виробництва без шкідливих викидів у навколишнє середовище.
Наразі проект на стадії пілотного виробництва. Підприємство включене до Enterprise Europe Network.
