Simulateur d'abattage
In order to train its students in logging and skidding machines, the Bazas Agricultural Secondary School has equipped itself with simulators. Modernizing education is also a means of increasing the attractiveness of forestry professions.
The forest-wood sector suffers from a lack of attractiveness to the younger generations. As a result, there is a lack of manpower, particularly for the woodcutter's trade. This profession is seen as being difficult, hard and poorly paid. Many forest workers come from other countries (e.g. Portugal). In order to attract more young people into the trades but also to modernise education and training, the agricultural college has equipped itself with logging and skidding simulators. This tool will make it possible to train students in the mechanisation of forestry sites. The investment of 260,000 euros has been made by the Regional Council and companies in the forestry and timber sector. The Bazas high school thus becomes the best equipped establishment in the country. Collaboration with Swedish high schools has also been made in order to integrate this equipment into the educational programme as well as possible.
